on October 15, 2010This is a tough subject to capture - and a POV we don't ordinarily get to see unless you are another bunny. The narrow DOF pops the bunny's face and solves the bright grassy background that could have stolen the rabbit's thunder. I love the fact we're right there in the grass catching this rare moment. The light on the ears is exquisite and draws the eye from bunny face-to ears-to what the bunny is doing. Tiny fix: Suggest a bit more foreground to balance the composition. I like that the foreground brick is out of focus, but the value should be knocked down to not steal any attention from the rabbit. Yes, lose or knock down the value of the sprinkler head as well or better yet-get rid of it. Great job!

on October 14, 2010Exquisite lighting and use of selective focus. The highlights on the ears bring the image to life, and that life continues in the catchlights in the rabbits eye. The direction of the light brings out the texture in the fur, and the color palette with the warm tones of the rabbit contrasting with the cool green of the grass and background works.
The warm tones are repeated in the top of the image in a shape that mimics the shape of the rabbit's body, and those darker tones not only keeps the viewer's eye from wandering out of the top of the image, but perfectly frame the rabbit.
My favorite part of the image though is the grass blades in the foreground. They are delicate enough that I can visually fight my way through them to get to the compelling rabbit, but without them, I would immediately feel, "Oh, another well lit photograph of a rabbit." Sometimes when we have to work for something we appreciate it more.
Two things however. I would darken the brick in the foreground, (because of the light value, it somewhat distracts), and although it would not be that easy, I would definitely clone out the sprinkler head.

on September 22, 2010Neat shot! Munching bunny face in great focus, lovely light, and excellent DOF. I'd rather not see the blocks and sprinkler; so's not be reminded he's urban. But I realize at this angle you couldn't drop them off and get enough body.

on September 13, 2010Great little rabbit shot. If you took out the sprinkler head, you could sell it for Easter cards.

on September 13, 2010Very peaceful shot of nature, like the colors and the blurred background making the rabbit stand out more. Very cute rabbit as long as this isn't the one eating my grass. :)
