A subject close to my heart - all we need is the element that caused the refraction to add interest to this successfully executed rainbow, the result of refracted light from a prism. The diagonal stripe adds dynamism to the composition, but can you imagine a hanging crystal (even if it's not the maker of the actual rainbow which is off-camera) leading to the downward end? Then flip it, so our eye can enter the composition from left to right, and end up with the subject the rainbow can lead into. I am confused as to why the background is tinted black; a medium grey would work more naturally and not distract from the brilliant colors rendered so realistically in this image. Hard to capture, think you're halfway there!

Did Laura, the Queen of prisms and refractions shot this?

Great execution of the concept. What better way is there to communicate "light" than to show the elements of its visual wavelength.

Great direction of light to define the texture of the background, and nice choice of black to make the colors pop.

Compositionally, the diagonal is great to add dynamics, and the subtle vignetting on the background is very tasteful and keeps the viewer in the center. The red wavelength on the left is just a bit close to the edge of the frame, and I think another visual object to add to the story, (maybe a prism in the lower right placed in a manner that looked like it was the source of the separation), would add more interest.

Tyree, I really like the diagonal composition. The colors pop on that background. The texture was a good idea too.

Great idea on the "light" theme! I love the contrast. It almost looks like a comet soaring through space.
